The Roll Up: Weekly Self-Storage Development Round Up 4.4.18

Miami City Self Storage opened a new, 1,000-unit facility in Miami at 409 NE 36th St. It’s the sixth self-storage site the company has built in South Florida. The seven-story facility has 77,500 square feet and is located a few blocks from the busy Wynwood and Miami Design District areas. CubeSmart is managing the site.

“We were originally attracted to this site because of its proximity to Miami’s most up-and-coming neighborhoods,” said Jay Massirman, a MCSS partner. “We purchased the site three years ago but are now looking very selectively in South Florida for additional projects.” The company plans to develop more than 1.5 million square feet in South Florida.

CubeSmart will manage the newly built self-storage facility at 6000 W. Touhy Avenue in Chicago for owner Bloomfield Capital. The 981-unit facility takes up 65,000 square feet. Also, Athletico Physical Therapy is a tenant in the building.
